As this site is predominately for students, I thought it would be useful to post this

Whilst this is not a definitive list (it misses out the Sorbonne, Italian & Spanish schools and some great schools in Russia, and forgets to mention that the Royal College is a post graduate school) it is usefu should you want to go to college.
In the UK the art school system has been taken over by teachers, with very little or no experience of working in an industry or making a living from their art. The majority of them are complete idiots, and during my 30 odd years in the business, I've had to spend an inordinate amount of time retraining graduates who've had talent but no clue about how to implement it, because what they were taught at college was not just wrong, but actively contributed to a lowering of standards. It's one of the reasons that there are so many internships now. Graduates have to be retrained because the people teaching them don't know what they're talking about.
This is more than just a shame. The British art school system used to be the best in the world. Now it's just an inefficient tool for churning out graduates with no idea about what it takes to make it in media and the arts.
Here are some links to pages of extremely successful commercial photographers. You will see a marked difference between their work and the images that are chosen by the groups here that purport to have high standards.
